Minding the Gap

I saw more of IDFA last weekend.

On of my Favourites: Minding the Gap. A beautiful multi-layered documentary by Bing Liu about growing up in a rough city, violence, poverty, class, race, family and friendship, in which skateboarding is almost like a parallel world to escape in, where all the energy can flow… An investigation of a very personal story through film, and at the same time always looking for a resonance in relation to others, in the context of the rough environment of the city Rockford, connected to many universal aspects of life. What struck me is the careful and attentive attitude of the filmmaker in approach to the things he encounters on the way.
