Expeditie Noord – Residence at Festival de Oversteek
For the third edition of ‘Expeditie Noord’ of Festival de Oversteek, Maaike Jaspers & Pim Steinmann went on Expedition in the river area in the north of Nijmegen. They mapped the area where the river flows into a secondary channel, the ‘Spiegelwaal’. During 1 month, they floated around on the water in an inflatable boat, and made audio recordings and drawings on the different locations they visited. The collection of locations were drawn onto a map, all connected to an audiotrack and a page in a book of drawings. The work was presented on the festival, in the middle of the river on a sandbank, and in a video/audio installation.
